Description

The van den Bergh catalog contains 139 reflection nebulae located above latitude 33º. vdB 65 is located in Auriga, near the border with Geminis. It constitutes a small part of the molecular cloud LDN 1577, and isilluminated by the central star TYC 2419-1158-1. Although it is a reflection nebula, it contains visible reddish areas in RGB on its northeastern edge and also, fainter, in the center. I have found few references and few images of this nebula. In a photograph published in CN (https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/538189-vdb-65/) the red halo completely surrounds the nebula, and the author suggests the possible existence of an emission ring surrounding dvB 65. I am taking Ha shots to verify this fact.
